Same Bat Crazy. Same Bat Channel.

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

This week, local publisher River Talk Weekly in Washougal printed an article so popular, that reports are they ran out of copies in two days (instead of their normal two weeks) and have now printed an additional batch to refill empty distribution racks. It reminded this writer of the infamous Washougal Mayor Sean Guard and his rides to local motels with his party lights on. But even better because, like all good dogshit stories, Nextdoor just makes it better.

First, let's disclaim that as of now, and as often is the case, Nextdoor is blocking the publication of pictures of the pages from River Talk Weekly, or any transcript of the article, because well let's just say, something's fishy with NextDoor. It's now apparently being "deamplified" by NextDoor, which we expect is another form of shadow-banning, designed to claim the high road of not censoring the post under scrutiny, but just making sure nobody would actually see it in reality. Ever.

The revelations are shocking, and come from a treasure trove of thousands of pages of emails sent between city officials and certain private residents of Camas- all part of an enormous Freedom of Information Act request launched last year by local citizens at FIX Camas (fixcamas.com), led by citizen advocate Brian Wiklem. Wiklem's name may sound familiar, as he has been a driving force behind the filing of Camas' Referendum 1, demanding that Camas officials allow the new 2% local Utility Tax to be decided by a vote of the electorate instead of implemented by a vote of City Council.

But these emails are damning, and reach far and wide to include officials still involved in Camas City Government. We will post those pages here at WATCH Camas, to make sure there is a linkable reference to the article in the future.

Great work. Well researched. Absolut amazing how some current and past CC members think that they are invisible to scrutiny and reporting.
